F1 2019 - Analysis
As the official game of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, it goes without saying that we have all twenty drivers, 10 teams and 21 circuits available for the 2019 season . The recreation of the cars and circuits is outstanding, in line with the previous installments. Of course, it is the first installment in many years without Fernando Alonso, something that can affect sales in Spain. Of course , the classic vehicles that have given such good results are back, with true myths such as the 1978 Lotus 79, the 1991 McLaren MP4 / 6, the 2009 Brawn BGP 001 that swept the world championship or, surely, the public's favorite Spanish, the Renault R26 with which Fernando Alonso conquered his second world championship far back in 2006. In addition, the Legends Edition includes two other mythical vehicles: the 1990 McLaren MP4 / 5B by Ayrton Senna and the Ferrari F1-90 of Alain Prost. But that's not all, since, as a novelty for F1 2019, the F2 category has been included , although, of course, from the last 2018 season (Codemasters will include the 2019 season later).
This F2 category will be the starting point of the Professional Career mode . Codemasters has tried to recreate the category jump that involves moving from F2 to F1, and has done so with a short, rather guided introduction that also serves to introduce our rivals. This introduction comes down to a series of final race sections and post-race videos, in which we meet, among others, Devon Butler, who will be the new maximum rival in the game. These first events have little impact on our future, since the result of the season will depend on our result in a last event in which we can achieve the F2 championship ... or stay on the doorstep. Once the F2 season is over, it will be time to collect the fruit of a great season (which we have not seen) and make the leap to Formula 1.
In our office we will have the proposal of the different teams. Of course, the top teams will have more demanding requirements to meet, although they will also allow us to fight for podiums, victories, and even for the World Cup. We will not be the only ones to make the jump, since both Devon Butler (our rival) and Lukas Weber (the one who was a teammate in F2) will make the jump. This causes 3 real pilots to fall off the game grid during Professional Career mode. The time between our virtual debut in F2 and the jump to F1 is quite short, and it takes a little more emphasis on F2 in this mode , since there is no option to run the full championship within this way. It really tastes very little.
Once in the big circus, the development of the Professional Career mode is practically identical to what was seen in F1 2018 . We can configure the duration of the races and the classification, as well as the level of the AI. During the weekend, we will begin with the training sessions, which will serve to familiarize us with the circuit and, on the way, do some training that will bring us resource points. These points, again, will help us to evolve the car through the R&D tree, divided into four sections (engine, aerodynamics, chassis and durability) where we can choose between different parts to be developed (not always successfully, yes) and thus evolve the car. It is not essential, but it is highly recommended to have a competitive car all season. Interviews after the sessions also return, maintaining even the "virtual journalists" themselves. These interviews will serve to adjust the profile of the pilot and his relationship with the team and the public, although, at the moment of truth, they are somewhat bland.
During the season, in addition, we will have to take into account the wear of the parts, always bearing in mind the regulations in this regard, since we have a limited number of spare parts ... and when we exhaust them, the change will cost us a penalty. Another improvement in the Professional Career mode is the negotiation of our contract, since, depending on our performance, we will have contract reviews, also during the season, and we can even look for new challenges in another team, something they can also do the AI pilots. Beyond the F1 World Cup, we will be invited throughout the season to some exhibition events, in which we will drive some classic vehicles and that can be a great opportunity to improve our reputation if a rival driver competes ... but they also represent a original touch and brings an extra variety to the season, with some classic vehicles that will delight fans.
There is nothing extraordinary in this Professional Career mode, although it manages to have fun and hook while playing, which in the end is the important thing. It fulfills its mission and even provides some new features that make it even more attractive.
Classic vehicles will not only be available in Professional Career mode, since we also have Championship mode available, in which we can play various championships with vehicles from the current F1 season, F2 or with classic vehicles. We will not be able to access them all from the beginning, since some need to be unlocked. Here, in addition, we have the classic exhibition events that appear during Career mode. In general, these events are entertaining, mainly due to the opportunity to drive historical cars and the variety of them (overtaking, checkpoint challenge, etc). In addition, the owners of the Legends Edition will have an extra with Senna and Prost as protagonists that, the truth, is most disappointing. Just a few generic events, without any context or based on any historical duel, in which you drive the two legends and their vehicles.
You could not miss the most classic modes , such as Grand Prix, in which to configure our own weekend or even a series of events, and the Time Trial mode, in which to fight only against the clock ... and against the times of other players. Everything that could be expected, no more, no less.
Of course, we can also choose the multiplayer aspect if we are looking for a greater challenge. We have weekly events scheduled, which work similar to a grand prize, and we will even have to qualify. There was no shortage of leagues, which we can create to play with friends with custom rules or join an existing one, fast races (with or without classification) and local network games. No, there is no trace of broken screen. Superlicense is once again our “license” on the internet, measuring both performance and sportsmanship on the track. In addition, our trophies will be shown to the rest of the players in it, in case we want to intimidate the rival or simply show off to everyone. The multiplayer of F1 2019 , allows us to customize our driver, as well as the vehicle itself. In fact, we have a car designed by Ross Brawn and Pat Symmons. ESports are also present, with in-game competition and the chance to watch the races. In the races we have had no lag problems of any kind and the performance has been satisfactory.
The most staunch fans will also enjoy an exhibition of the vehicles, where they can be seen in great detail and even know more about them, with some information. All vehicles in the game are included, both classic and current. Finally, we have Projector mode, in which we can see our latest races and store the best ones.
Both in the race and in these repetitions, we will once again see the eternal Codemasters EGO engine at full capacity. The versatile engine comes with a few improvements to F1 2019, most notably the lighting, which makes the game a noticeable leap in quality, especially at night races . Improvements are also noted in the textures of the vehicles, both in bodywork (with a more realistic tone, with less plastic appearance) and in the tires. Both vehicles and circuits feel more detailed and the weather effects are spectacular. Of course, without being any revolution, which is not expected until the next generation is a reality. Only a little more fidelity is missing when it comes to recreating the pilots who, although recognizable, are below the rest of the sections. A minor detail in an outstanding technical section, with a good performance (the desired 60fps) and that will delight fans for the level of detail achieved.
The sound is maintained at a good level , with the sound of the vehicles well recreated, both the poor sound of the current hybrid engines and the glorious sound of the classics, with the latest V10s and its almost 20,000 rpm in the lead. It is lacking, however, one more point of force in the sound, more after having played Assetto Corsa Competizione. As usual, F1 2019 arrives fully folded and translated into our language, with a correct dubbing, although sometimes the lip sync is not completely adjusted.
Like the graphics engine, the 2019 F1 gameplay features minor tweaks that enhance the overall package . The aerodynamics have been improved and the cars feel with more grip on the track. This does not mean that the control has been simplified, but that the movements in curves, especially in fast curves, are more natural and provide an extra confidence to the player, as well as spectacularity. On the other hand, the good (and moderate) use of the accelerator can make the difference between scratching a few hundredths of the clock or ending up against the wall (in which case we can pull the classic flashback to go back). Something similar occurs with the brake, since (always without ABS) it is easier to lock when braking hard, with the corresponding plane in the tire. In addition, we have noticed a decrease in permissiveness with the pianos, which make the car lose control more quickly than in other years. The set is a delight, with apparently docile vehicles, but that will require great skill at the wheel to take them to the limit and that produce the most satisfying sensations.
These sensations, of course, increase with a good steering wheel, which increases precision in handling and fun. The standard Force Feedback can be a bit loose, but there are various configuration parameters to adjust it to the feeling of each player, making it possible to feel not only every piano or curve, but even the regularities of the asphalt. Of course, we have various driving aids so that any player can take command.
As if that were not enough, to round off the handling , the differences between vehicles are transferred to the track , we will see that a Mercedes easily overtakes a Red Bull on a straight line, or how well the Ferrari chassis works, but not only that, since that we have seen that the F2 behave in a totally different way, somewhat coarser. Classic vehicles have also been improved, which are still the most "rebellious", but have improved their sensations and are easier to tame ... with enough skill.
The improvement in control and graphic improvement is joined by a notable improvement in rival AI , which now closes spaces better and also searches for them more aggressively. In addition, they have been able to reduce the classic racket outlets. The whole set makes racing more fun and exciting than ever. Of course Codemasters has hit the nail on the head in this regard, and the game is the most fun in recent years.

Marco SalvaneschiF1 2019 - Review
No, don't worry. No Fiat Multipla in F1 2019, with its "graceful" shapes and its aerodynamic thrust (yes, with arms). The "multiple formula&q...
As I have been able to ascertain even more deeply than the recent Hamburg preview with the game, it is not a merely aesthetic addition, but a substantial one, capable of truly enriching the videogame formula of a series that already had so much to offer, and now has literally a gear more.
Undoubtedly the most important novelty of this year, the F1 2019 Formula 2 represent for now the official models of the 2018 championship (2019 will be added in the post-launch phase), consisting of 12 events and disputed by 20 official drivers divided into 10 team. Even the commentators are those of the real F2, even if our Davide Valsecchi sincerely doesn't seem to me to have the same voice, as nice as it is a bit petulant, that shows off from the Formula 1 paddock. Multiple formula for him too? Seriously, Formula 2 is not a joke at all: keep an eye on them.
In the end, in fact, they mount a turbocharged V6 and a chassis not very dissimilar - and not surprisingly - from those adopted in F1, with the difference of being assembled all by the same manufacturer, the very Italian and historic Dallara. So here, in Formula 2, the difference is almost only the skills of the drivers, in reality as well as in the game.
The perfect incubator to churn out and show tomorrow's future Formula 1 champions to the world. Or today, as fully demonstrated by the road traveled by the new talent Ferrari Charles Leclerc, winner in Formula 2 in 2017 after winning the GP3 in 2016, participant in the Ferrari Driver Academy for three years and now finally landed as second (?) driver on the Maranello red after a year in the Sauber.
A path that can also be followed in the game and in the very early stages of his career, as we will see. A path that immediately begins to forge not only the driving technique, but also the character of the person that each driver is and must also be off the track, in relations with the press and the other drivers, with the team and the teammate.
Hence, taming the domineering and less progressive pair of the cadet category on the track, more prone to make you spin in power if you do not promptly check the relative oversteer, being able to count on less electronic aids and aerodynamic appendages compared to F1, is almost as complicated as hold your tongue in the paddock against a particularly annoying rival, not only behind the wheel but also in words.
Returning to the track, without going too much into the technical details, compared to the aforementioned Formula 2 the F1 are as fast and drivable as more "cold", technological and digital as they are in their thousand electronic aids, adjustable as desired by the player according to their own driving skills and sensitivity.
In short, we are not faced with a mere graphic "re-skin", but with an accurate work of performance characterization, as indeed demonstrated by all the cars present in the game, from Formula 1 2019 to all those of the glorious past of the circus World Cup - of which we have spoken to you here, and which can be piloted within special single player Championships or even in occasional Invitational events within the same Career, useful to replenish your reputation and rivalry statistics.
A characterization that, of course, is better appreciated by using a steering wheel at least worthy of which is my dear old Logitech G29 - but dreaming of a Direct Drive like the Podium Racing Wheel F1 of Fanatec - even if via controller you are able to "feel" the machine in a way that is at least sufficient to draw trajectories that are not too wavy. Here, however, you will find all the control systems officially supported at the moment on each hardware platform, PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC.

Robin RütherF1 2019 in the test - why it is better than its predecessor, although not all innovations are convincing
Not every innovation from F1 2019 is convincing, but thanks to the masterful preparatory work of the earlier series parts, the latest part is also inspiring - a...
Vettel, Hamilton, Bottas - these are names that every Formula 1 fan knows. But what about Artyom Markelow, Alessio Lorandi and Niko Kari? Here Formula 2 spectators only nod, everyone else shakes their head.
A logical step: The driving experience with its precise balancing act between arcade and simulation has been convincing for years, Codemasters only improves details here. With a completely new racing class, on the other hand, you drastically increase the scope and further enrich the overall package. And if the campaign has been too sober for you so far, you will be happy about a short story - which, however, is far from exhausting its potential.
Formula 2 with all the rules
The Formula 2 cars are characterized primarily by a longer braking distance and slower acceleration compared to Formula 1. They also lose grip faster if you give too much gas when exiting a corner. Formula 2 also differs from its big brother in the series in some control points that Codemasters has taken over in great detail.
A race weekend does not consist of one race, but of two: a normal race and a sprint race over a shorter distance. Whoever wins qualifying gets four points, and two more points are awarded for the fastest race lap. In addition, the starting position of the first eight drivers will reverse in the second race.
So far, only the drivers from the Formula 2 season from 2018 are in F1 2019, Codemasters will deliver the current ones later with a free patch. Another downer: the Formula 2 racing cars are only available in single player, but not in online races - that too will only change with a later patch.
A story that doesn't deserve the name
The campaign in F1 2019 will start this year in Formula 2, but you will not drive through the entire racing calendar, but only do a few laps in three short scenarios. Then the introduction ends and you move up to the premier class.
In the first scenario, for example, the car suffers from a loss of performance, so you have to let your teammates out. That is done quickly and not particularly exciting, but it serves as the lead story for F1 2019.
After each scenario, you meet in a cutscene with your teammate Lukas Weber and your rival Devon Butler for a brief exchange of blows.
The fictional racing drivers are, however, clearly exaggerated: Butler considers himself the very best racing driver in the world and is not a shame in the event of defeat for no excuse, our team-mate, however, constantly speaks to us and praises the team spirit. That gives our competitors a personality, but the plot does not offer more than an exaggerated staging.
The worst, however: After the three scenarios and the switch to Formula 1, the story ends! Although you read in transcripts what the two fictional drivers say about you in interviews, there are no more cutscenes.
If you don't feel like the F2 pre-skirmish and the two new drivers, you can skip the introduction and swing directly behind the cockpit of Ferrari, Mercedes, Red Bull and Co.
The usual motivating campaign
The campaign in F1 2019 offers hardly anything new apart from the F2 introduction, but it is motivating thanks to the management and role-play elements introduced in the predecessors. The research and development system is again commendable.
If you achieve team goals and complete training programs, you will receive resource points that you invest in your car. For example, you improve the engine for more power or the aerodynamics for better handling. A great solution to grind: If you don't feel like completing all training programs every race weekend, you can have them simulated for the first time in F1 2019. Then you won't get all the resource points, but at least half.
The campaign now feels very dynamic: Your opponents are working on their cars from week to week, which means that the teams' car performance increases over the season. With the start of the new season, as in the previous season, the regulations for some parts have changed, which can mess up the performance of the cars. In addition, the Formula 1 drivers now change teams independently. Small flaw in the atmosphere: They still keep their old sponsor stickers on their helmets.
In terms of contract negotiations, nothing has changed compared to the predecessor: If you achieve good results and stick to the team goals, you can demand bonuses such as faster pit stops or several vehicle updates at the same time when renegotiating. Only the interviews after practice, qualifying and the race that were introduced in the previous year and cannot be canceled can become annoying in the long run because they are again far too predictable.
Driving behavior for beginners and professionals
Accelerated out of a curve too quickly? Your car turns. Started too early at the start? That gives a penalty. Are you braking too late and hard before a curve? The tires block, white smoke rises. If, on the other hand, you activate all driving aids, F1 2019 plays almost like an arcade racer and forgives you many mistakes.
The control with controller also works well. In theory, you can also drive with a keyboard, but this restricts the steering and throttle control significantly. City circuits like Monaco and Azerbaijan become a struggle for survival.
Chic staged
Codemasters put some resources into modes and extras off the track this year. For example, there is now a showroom in which you can view all of the cars in the game with performance data and descriptions.
The panorama shots and insights into the team pitches before a race are even better staged this year, the faces of the official drivers look even more true to the original. This year, the night races stand out graphically with their pretty headlights.
F1 2019 now also saves highlights after a race, which you can watch directly after the finish line or at a later time in the new replay mode. The photo mode is of course there again and allows you to take snapshots with many different filters and settings.
The e-sports menu, on the other hand, is less convenient. There is now a separate tab for this in the main menu, but almost all buttons lead out of the game and open a separate browser window.
Multiplayer Leagues and Customization
The bad news first: Codemasters does without a local split screen in this iteration as well. The developer has also canceled the online championship, but you can still put together your own championships - now also in your own leagues.
In leagues you team up with like-minded players and create racing events that take place over several real-time weekends, just like the big role model. You will also take part in rated and non-rated races again.
For the extra portion of motivation, Codemasters has come up with optical adjustments for your car. In online races, you no longer only have to use licensed racing cars, but can also drive your own racing car. However, this only relates to the choice of paint.
With each completed ranking race you win points, which you put in new paintwork for your car as well as helmets, suits and gloves for your driver. Codemasters is also selling some items and paint jobs for real money through Steam. But none of them change the performance of the car.
