Studio Paint has closed the development of Niko: Through The Dream after having raised funds through a crowdfunding campaign with its new title, which is now playable on PC via Steam.

At IGN Spain we echoed this game when its creators let us enjoy its dreamlike settings and careful visual appearance two years ago, and we have closely followed its beginnings and the process by which it gathered the necessary funds to become a game. with all of the law.

This time has served the Spanish studio to polish its incredible graphic section, its puzzles and a somewhat puzzling story at the beginning, but which is making sense as we delve into the memories of its protagonist.

From the moment we start playing we feel a scent that is very familiar to us. The structures and characters that make up the first levels remind us of the gigantic settings that Fumito Ueda developed more than a decade ago in his classic ICO, and you can even find traces of Echochrome in his minimalist surroundings.

The aesthetics of Niko: Through the Dream is well defined from the first minute of the adventure. With an illustrated introduction of our protagonist, we delve into her dream where we will unlock floating islands in which the creators have progressively prepared tests for us that we will have to overcome to break the plot line.

The soundtrack composed by Edgar Sánchez and David García , is a great help for us to perceive the feelings of our protagonist. The different sounds that form it fit perfectly with the atmosphere that its creators have set for us.

Memory, logic and a little abstraction are necessary requirements to enter a degree, which has been made for those who enjoy a good cup of coffee and are willing to solve a good problem.

Studio Paint has managed to present us with a dream from which it will be difficult for us to wake up. Its symbology and mechanics will occasionally alert all our senses if we want to go to the next level.

This Spanish independent game is a great example of player integration. The user feels what the protagonist feels and will be excited when she gets excited. At the end of the day, the protagonist is an extension of the player, but the feeling of unity that we will have with our character after a few hours of play is a point to highlight in this title.

Niko: Through the Dream is one of the best examples of overcoming for bringing to light a complicated project. A work that lights that old flame of titles that we keep in a special place on our bookshelf, with a visual section that does not envy greats of the genre, dedicating to a study that we have to follow very closely, since it has made clear that it has a lot to say and a lot to contribute to the industry.
